Having a powerful veggie craving...

We're safe in Laurel, MS and the only problem we've experienced so far is that the tornado sirens have come on once (but no tornado, thank goodness). We left NOLA at 7:30 PM on Saturday evening and encountered heavy traffic going through Mandeville on the Causeway and on I-12 right before the I-59 split (which we bypassed, mostly using back roads). Once we got on I-59, the traffic was heavy and averaged around 50 MPH until after Hattiesburg, but kept moving except once, when it came to a complete stop. We arrived in Laurel by 11 PM, so the trip was not too bad and the princess snoozed except for when we would hit a big bump or when I had to hit the brakes, and she would meow and go back to sleep.

It's always good to marry a man with wonderful relatives who let you invade their extremely nice house each time you have to evacuate. The only problem is avoiding the mounds of junk food that everyone has brought with them, but luckily, I'm having a powerful veggie craving and am plotting a visit to the nearest diner that has soul food/southern cooking.

We've been watching the live feed on the internet from Fox 8. Hope the flood walls hold. The folks in the Ninth Ward have done so much hard work. I think if the storm keeps moving fast, we're going to be OK , and hopefully, Entergy will get the power back on fast (remember that fuel adjustment we're paying you each month - we want EXCELLENT service!) so our new Tiki fridge won't be toast!

Gotta go - the tornado sirens just went off again!
